Strongly shaped or contoured workpieces – preferably also made of relatively soft metals such as brass – require particularly adaptable, supple running pads for the contact wheel used for belt grinding during the belt grinding process. Even the softest contact wheels with a rubber running surface cannot be used for this purpose. <\/p>\n

For this reason, foamed Vulkollan\u00ae is used with great success to create the running surfaces for such applications. The available degrees of hardness (technically specified as density) allow an application range from approx. 20\u00b0 to approx. 55\u00b0 (measured according to Shore A). This makes it possible to produce contact wheels that can be used successfully in all conceivable practical applications. The main areas of application are traditionally in the bathroom and kitchen fittings industry. <\/p>\n

KEMPER-KONTAKT Gert Kemper GmbH supplies contact wheels with a running surface made of foamed Vulkollan\u00ae – so-called Vulkollan wheels – in various designs:<\/p>\n

The contact wheel series ELAX\u00ae VSDH and ELAX\u00ae VSDN offer a closed, ungrooved running cushion. In the case of ELAX\u00ae VSDH, depending on the pulley diameter, this is <\/p>\n

35-45mm high, in the case of ELAX\u00ae VSDN 15-20mm depending on the disk diameter.<\/p>\n

ELAX\u00ae VSDH is used for sanding work on more contoured workpieces, ELAX\u00ae VSDN for work on slightly shaped workpieces.<\/p>\n

For special applications where more material removal is required, both types of contact wheel can be grooved at a ratio of either 1:1 or 1:1.5.<\/p>\n

The contact surfaces of the Ventiflex\u00ae H and Ventiflex\u00ae N contact wheel series are covered with foam lamellae. These contact wheels are even softer and more elastic than the ELAX\u00ae VSDH and ELAX\u00ae VSDN contact wheels just discussed and grind much cooler. They are ideal for highly profiled parts and are generally used with flexible “J” abrasive belts. <\/p>\n

In terms of the hardness of the foam slats used, we have a wide range from approx. 25\u00b0 Shore A to approx. 45\u00b0 Shore A. In special cases where extremely soft coverings are required, the PU foam lamellae can be applied alternately with normal soft foam lamellae.<\/p>\n
